WELCOME TO DUSKLAND TERRIERS!
Duskland Terriers was founded by Charlotte Wagner, BSc Hons - an endeavor born out of her lifelong passion for dogs. Her career as a Certified Dog Trainer and Behaviorist began over 20 years ago working with shelter and rescue dogs. A few years later, Charlotte transitioned her focus to purebred dogs while studying Animal Science at the University of Essex in England where she successfully completed (with honors) a rigorous curriculum of pure and applied science for: biology, behavior, genetics, ethics, animal health, breeding strategies, as well as animal husbandry and management.
Charlotte originally made her ring debut with her beloved Toy Manchester/English Toy Terriers, showcasing her passion at renowned UK shows such as Leeds, Windsor, Ladies Kennel Association, and Crufts. Upon returning to the United States, Charlotte turned her focus to finding breeds suitable for life in the rural setting of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. In 2014, she welcomed her first American Staffordshire Terrier into her life and she was hooked! Their agility, athleticism, drive, and kind nature made for ideal farm dogs!
As Charlotte's Manchester Terriers were getting older, she started researching other Terrier breeds and quickly became enamored with the Border Terrier. Their mix of versatility, tenacity, and intelligence seemed ideal for mountain living. She befriended Jim and Laura Harvey of Blue Rock BTs, who provided the foundation for the Duskland BT bloodline.
Charlotte pursues various activities with her dogs, including Conformation competitions, Dock Diving, Trick Dog titles, FastCAT, Rally Obedience, Barn Hunt, Scentwork, and Canine Good Citizenship programs. Her dogs have been honored to receive High in Trial, group placements, and top awards at specialty shows (including the prestigious Montgomery Kennel Club and Westminster Kennel Club dog shows).
You can find Charlotte at local and regional events either at the end of a leash or behind the lens of her camera ... but be warned, she will talk your ear off about dogs! She shares her home with husband and kennel assistant extrordinaire Josh, her beloved pups, a handful of dairy goats, and two pet pigs!
